Los Angeles acting schools are a strange breed indeed. Everyone, it seems, wants to teach actors how to act. And certainly The Acting Corps
is no different. Like everyone else we believe we’re the best, blah, blah, blah… What all this creates in the acting school student is massive confusion. How are people to choose? They can go online, read reviews, ask others about their experiences, and still, more often than not, student actors walk away from most acting training disappointed.
How can this be? Certainly it’s possible they picked a bad school and there are many out there. But why else might someone have a bad experience? I believe that too often actors come to Los Angeles unprepared to do the work. Let’s be honest about it, there are so many actors who believe that just signing up for one of the myriad Los Angeles acting schools is enough. And if they show up to a class, the acting class should consider itself fortunate for being graced with the presence of someone destined for greatness.
Know this. Acting is hard work, to the point of exhaustion. A sparkling personality and even tremendous natural ability are just starting points. In the end it is always about the work, and those who engage in it are truly serving their talent, rather than the fantasy of love on a global scale we call Hollywood.

Great post.
This is very true. When people train to become accountants, lawyers, professionals even trades people they train everyday for 3 – 4 years and even then the real learning only commences when they start work in their chosen field.
Imagine owning a business and only turning up 3 days a week, your business would not be very successful.
Everyday it is important to practice, improve work on your business, which in the case of acting is yourself, and to constantly be looking for work if you are not working.
